Mark Grooms - Senior Pastor

Mark Grooms has served as Senior Pastor of Thomas Terrace Baptist Church since January 1, 1989. Mark and Renee have been married since November 30, 1974. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Mark holds an Associate of Arts; Bachelor of Science; and Master of Arts degrees all from Liberty University and is currently a doctoral candidate in the D. Min program at Liberty University.

Mark has a passion to lead Thomas Terrace Baptist Church to make disciples by reaching people of all ages through the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ and fulfilling Ephesians 4:13 "Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the statue of the fullness of Christ". Mark's "vision" for Thomas Terrace Baptist Church is being a spiritually mature and fully equipped body of believers.

Dick Vannoy - Pastoral Advisor

Richard N. Vannoy Came on Staff at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church in May 2001.  He and his wife, Norma, were married in 1958. They have 5 grown, married children and 21 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Dick was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in the Northern Virginia area.  He received Christ as his Savior and Lord when he was 36 years old.  At the time he was pursuing a career in the Federal Government which included among other positions a State Department assignment at the embassy in Lima, Peru; Deputy Director of Administrative Services in the Peace Corp.; and Assistant Director of Operations in the U.S. Water Resources Council.
After 27 years of service and reaching the Executive level, God called him to the gospel ministry in 1980.  Since then he has served on staff in four growing churches; two as Associate Pastor and two as Senior Pastor before coming to TTBC.  Dick has a BS in Business Administration and a MA in Bible Exposition. Now retired, we are honored that Dick still advises and serves on the board of TTBC.

John Pickett - Children's Pastor

John came on staff at Thomas Terrace on January 14th, 2007 as Pastor of Christian Education. At the age of 30 he found the Lord, after many years of searching for the truth.  He then enrolled in Arlington Bible College and graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies. From there, the Lord led him into full-time Christian service with Child Evangelism Fellowship as the State Director for Maryland and Virginia, where he served for nine years. He and his family then moved to Lynchburg, Virginia where he served as Associate Pastor in a local church before he became Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, where he and his wife have served for twelve years. During his years as Senior Pastor his burden for marriage and families grew. He also saw a great need to educate church members for the ministry.

He and his wife Sue are thrilled to be a part of TTBC. They were married August 6, 1966 and have two children and five grandchildren, all in full-time Christian ministry. Brandon, their oldest, and his wife, serve as media missionaries with the S.B.C.V. and Becky, their daughter, and her husband, serve as one of TTBC's church-planting missionaries in Belgium.
